The Ebenezer Maxwell Mansion is the only authentic Victorian house museum in Philadelphia.  I lived in the Germantown section of Philadelphia for a brief period and used to go jogging past the mansion.  Friends told me about the theatre events that happened there and my interest grew.  After I finished graduate school I knew I wanted to volunteer at a historic or cultural organization to help out, but also to gain more experience.  In July 2013 I became a member of the board of directors at the Ebenezer Maxwell Mansion.

The mansion provides a Victorian theatre series, craft workshops, lectures, and docent led tours throughout the year.  The Old Fashioned Picnic, held every June, is a very affordable family favorite that features croquet games, Victorian photos, face painting, entertainment, tours of the mansion and demonstrations of Victorian- era methods of food preparation.

The Upstairs, Downstairs tour is offered several “First Fridays” throughout the year.  This special program, which highlights women’s struggles and triumphs during the mid-late 1800’s, won History in Pennsylvania’s “2013 Excellence in Education and Public Programming” award.
